Autumn is beginning. This means that boots, Jodhpur boots, and calf boots are on top. Women have no major problem with matching them to pants. But how do you match them with skirts and dresses so that you don’t optically shorten your legs and make your figure look proportionate? Choosing shoes for a dress or skirt in autumn and winter is a real challenge. This is one of the main fashion problems.
Virtually all shoes match your pants. The situation is different with skirts and dresses. Matching the right footwear for them, especially in autumn and winter, is not an easy matter. High heels, pumps or sandals are perfect, but what shoes should you wear in the fall?
Choosing the wrong shoes for the skirt can significantly distort the figure, and probably every woman would prefer to avoid it. Footwear should be tailored not only to the length of the skirt or dress but also to their cut and even color. Which shoes should be worn depends, therefore, on several factors: the length and shape of the skirt, the occasion, the type of styling and of course the season.
As for the occasion and type of styling, it is obvious that other shoes fit for a formal meeting or an elegant party, different every day, and still others for a walk. As for the season, we focus on the autumn and winter season, because this type of footwear is much more difficult to choose to dress than footwear is worn in spring and summer.
Bet on the color!
The color of shoes for dresses and skirts is also extremely important. It’s best to choose shoes in subdued colors, i.e.
- black,
- graphite,
- gray,
- navy blue,
- dark green or burgundy.
Of course, the most universal is black footwear, because it suits virtually everything, and in the case of other colors, there may always be a problem with choosing the right color of tights.
When black tights are put on black shoes, the effect of extending the legs is guaranteed, which is why it is the safest solution. Of course, ladies who have long and slim legs can boldly experiment with colors, while women of larger sizes should, however, bet on proven classics.
Ankle or knee boots?
The shape of footwear is also important because it determines the appearance of the legs. The best look looks in shoes that are tight at the ankle – showing the ankle optically slims the legs.
Of course, this is not possible in autumn and winter shoes, so you should emphasize the ankle by putting on narrow boots, Jodhpur boots or boots. In turn, shoes with a wide upper can be put on narrow skirts and dresses, for example, pencil ones.
On the other hand, the combination of a loose, oversized dress with wide boots looks unfavorable, because it makes the figure massive.
It is good to use the principle of adversity – a narrow dress or skirt plus shoes with wide uppers or a loose or flared dress plus tight shoes. As you can see, opposites also attract in fashion.
Autumn footwear trousers
Practically every shoe fits, but not all. The most versatile pants are narrow-cut because you can put on both boots and Jodhpur boots, as well as any type of boots, both short and long.
The situation is different in the case of wider pants – definitely shorter shoes fit such, because long boots cannot be worn on top, but only underneath.
